Super… Smash… Otters!

Created for an art show to benefit the Woodland Park Zoo, Cameron Garland's papercut piece is chock full of cute little details and features the most whimsical of all aquatic mammals, the otter.

So cool!

  • Question: Whoa you're talking about Vancouver and Portland, are you near Seattle? Because the new Asian small-clawed otters at the Woodland Park Zoo are AMAZING. They run around in single file lines and all jump into the water together. They're adorable. The sea otters I think are what they also have at the Northern tundra exhibit where they swim around with bears and salmon and they're really cool too - carbodactyl

I’ve been to the Woodland Park Zoo when I was in Seattle last year (a birthday treat from my husband), but it was before they had the Asian short claw otters dammit! The river otters there were cool though, and we had a great time at the Seattle aquarium too. As I currently live in Vancouver it’s not too far to get to Seattle so hopefully we can go again.

My dream is to see as many types of otter as possible - I’ve seen North American River Otters, Eurasian River Otters, Sea Otters, Asian Short claw otters and giant otters. They’re such amazing creatures

  • Question: I think I might have to visit the Vancouver Aquarium sometime. The otter pictures you take there are absolutely adorable! Especially the ones of Katmai and the Frisbee. I do have to say that Katmai rivals Juno at the Oregon zoo on levels of adorableness. - deeotterphoto

Thanks so much for your message, I’m so pleased you like my otter photos. I LOVE Vancouver aquarium, I go all the time as I’m a member and the otters are spellbinding (I even watch the otter cam when the aquarium is closed!)

It’s funny that Katmai loves the frisbees- the last time I saw her she was trying to get Tanu to join in but she wasn’t interested in the frisbees, so Katmai had all three to herself!

I’d love to see the otters at the Oregon Zoo, both the Sea Otters and River Otters -hopefully one day I can make it there.

    Have a fantastic weekend xx

Today I’ve been reminiscing about my holiday in New Zealand. It’s the most beautiful country which was one of the reasons it was the best holiday ever (I also met my husbands family).

One of the many highlights was visiting Hobbiton at Matamata - the detail of the sets were incredible.

Hopefully we can go back to NZ soon
